Sweet Adversity was released on July 1, 2018 ... and it's been a great ride so far. Over this past month, I've been travelling to Hobart, Victoria, Sydney on my mini-book tour. It's been such fun ... the future of Children's Literature is in safe hands with some amazing book stores and staff, both independent and chain.
In all of these bookshops, I talked to lovely staff who are readers themselves, and so enthusiastic for the world of books, particularly children's literature. Thank you all for your warm welcome. I left bookmarks and signed copies (with their special label on the covers), but I left with a great appreciation of how much we owe them as authors and publishers ... just like we do all Teacher-Librarians.
Thank you especially, to Kristen Proud at Squishy Minnie bookshop in Kyneton, Victoria. And thanks to my dear friend, Dee White for driving me there. And Kate O'Donnell and the crew at Younger Sun bookshop in Melbourne, and Michael at The Little Bookroom at Carlton, and in Hobart ... the fab Fullers Bookshop, Dymocks and The Hobart Bookshop, and Paul Macdonald and co at the Children's Bookshop at Beecroft in Sydney.
Lots of excellent reviews, including from Better Reading, Boomerang Books, GoodReads, Just So Stories, Karen Brooks Author, Cass Moriarty Author, Cate Whittle Author, Mostly Books Blog, the CBCA's Reading Time, The Book Bubble and lots more. Extra sweet was the review in KidsBooksNZ ... thank you, Maria Gill.
HarperCollins has also published Teacher Notes for Sweet Adversity ... written and compiled by the fabulous, Dr Robyn Sheahan-Bright. Available for FREE DOWNLOAD.
